Vermonter Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 slice Kretschmar® Swiss Cheese
  • 3 oz Kretschmar® Turkey Breast
  • 1 slice Kretschmar® White American Cheese
  • 2 slices Smithfield® Select Bacon, cooked crisp-medium
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices sourdough
  • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for griddling outside)
  • 2 tsp unsalted butter, softened (for griddling inside)
  • 1 Tbsp apple butter
  • Black pepper, to taste (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat griddle or skillet to medium low.
  2. Lightly butter inside faces of both bread slices using 2 tsp butter. Place both slices inside-face down on griddle and toast until lightly golden for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Spread 1 Tbsp butter evenly on outside of both bread slices.
  4. Build the sandwich on one slice (toasted inside facing up) in order of white American cheese, folded turkey, bacon (broken in half), Swiss cheese and cheddar.
  5. Spread apple butter thinly on toasted inside of top slice (keep away from edges). Close sandwich with buttered outside facing out.
  6. Griddle until deep golden and cheeses are fully melted, 3-4 minutes per side, flipping once. Press gently once if needed to help melt.
  7. Rest 30 seconds, cut and serve.
